On Politics A.M.: Trump Cripples W.T.O. Amid Trade Wars

A U.S. offensive against the World Trade Organization will curb its ability to settle disputes.

Good Monday morning. Here are some of the stories making news in Washington and politics today.

  • Rudolph W. Giuliani didn’t get the Trump administration job he expected. But as unpaid personal counsel to the president and for-profit peddler of access and advice, he got the spotlight.
  • Continuing a back-and-forth with Mayor Pete Buttigieg over transparency, Senator Elizabeth Warren disclosed a detailed list of compensation she received during 30 years of moonlighting as a legal consultant — about $1.9 million in all.
  • Senator Cory Booker campaigns on an overall message of love and unity. He uses the word “love” more often than a wedding playlist does. But having his girlfriend, Rosario Dawson, with him in Iowa brought a more personal kind of love to the trail.
  • Military officials are trying to develop systems that instantly push intelligence to front-line forces, a development that strategists say could help deter aggression by Russia and China.

Today’s On Politics briefing was compiled by Isabella Grullón Paz in New York.
